Outside the Box Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reimagining what it means to be human. Through research, education, and mental health advocacy, we address the loneliness epidemic affecting Gen Z and beyond. Our programs and initiatives foster connection, resilience, well-being, as well as inspire individuals to think outside the box and build a more compassionate future.

Loneliness is more than a feeling — it’s a serious health risk. Studies show it can increase anxiety, depression, and even the risk of heart disease by 30%. The World Health Organization has declared loneliness a global health concern, linking social isolation to higher rates of stroke, dementia, and suicide.
For Gen Z and young adults, loneliness has surged despite constant digital connection. Social media, remote work, and post-pandemic life have left many feeling unseen and disconnected.

At OTBI, we create spaces where people can reconnect — through shared creativity, authentic interaction, and mental fitness experiences that strengthen community and belonging.
We are dedicated to rebuilding social connection in a world reshaped by anxiety, stress, and constant disruption. Our inclusive activities and events foster meaningful interpersonal and intergenerational communication, empowering people to reconnect and build stronger communities.
