Outside the Box Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit reimagining what it means to be human.
Through research, education, and mental health advocacy, we address the loneliness epidemic
while fostering connection, resilience, and well-being across Gen Z and beyond.
Loneliness is a public health issue impacting mental health, retention, resilience, and wellbeing.
Outside the Box Institute delivers structured experiential connection programs that help people move from isolation to belonging.
At Outside the Box Institute, we believe connection cannot be taught through information alone—it must be experienced.
Our programs are designed to move people beyond conversation and into meaningful human connection through interactive, experiential,
and evidence-informed engagement. We create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and connected—because belonging is built through
participation, not observation. From campuses to communities, our work helps individuals reduce loneliness, strengthen emotional resilience,
improve relational confidence, and rediscover what it means to be fully human.

Belonging is not accidental—it is created through intentional human connection. At Outside the Box Institute, we design experiential programs that move people from isolation to connection, and from surface interaction to meaningful engagement.
Our work is grounded in the belief that when people feel seen, heard,
and valued, their sense of wellbeing and resilience strengthens.
We create structured experiences that reduce loneliness, build emotional resilience, and strengthen the skills of connection—especially in environments where people are surrounded by others, yet still feel alone.

Outside the Box Institute partners with universities, healthcare systems, and community organizations to design and deliver experiential programs that strengthen connection, belonging, and emotional wellbeing.
Our work sits at the intersection of education, prevention, and community health—supporting efforts that address loneliness, social isolation, and the growing need for meaningful human connection
in modern environments.
We collaborate with institutions committed to innovative approaches
to wellbeing, including those focused on prevention, mental health support, and community resilience.
Together, we create spaces where connection is not abstract—it is practiced, experienced, and sustained in real time.

At OTBI, we create experiences that help people reconnect with themselves and each other through shared creativity, guided interaction, and hands-on connection practices that build belonging.
In a time of stress, anxiety, and constant digital noise, connection doesn’t happen automatically—it has to be experienced.
Our inclusive programs bring people together across generations and communities to foster authentic interaction, strengthen relationships, and rebuild the everyday skills of human connection.
We design spaces where people don’t just participate—
they connect, engage, and leave feeling more seen and
supported than when they arrived.

We design experiential programs that transform connection from an idea into a lived experience. Some of these programs include:
SPARK™
An interactive connection experience that helps people move beyond small talk into meaningful conversation. SPARK™ builds empathy, confidence, and authentic engagement across generations and communities.
We Knead Connection™
A hands-on experiential program that uses guided, tactile engagement to support stress reduction, emotional regulation, and human connection in a low-pressure, accessible environment.
Intergenerational Experiences
Programs that bring different age groups together to share stories, perspectives, and lived experience—reducing isolation and strengthening community bonds.
Campus & Community Programs
Custom workshops and activations designed for universities, organizations, and communities seeking to strengthen belonging, engagement, and wellbeing at scale.
